Mr. Stephen L. Biel, P.E.
Senior Technical Consultant, Integrated Test and Measurement (ITM)

Stephen is a professional engineer with more than 18 years of design, analysis, testing, and project management experience in the automotive, machine tool and consumer product industries. He is currently the owner of Lever Engineering, which provides engineering and finite element analysis (FEA) expertise to clients in the areas of design, development and testing, and serves as a technical consultant at Integrated Test and Measurement (ITM).

Prior to founding Lever Engineering, Stephen served as senior mechanical engineer at Integrated Technologies Engineering, where he:

  • Leveraged rapid turnaround FEA to reduce design and testing costs while optimizing product performance;
  • Served as project manager involved in developing proposals, interacting with customers, setting schedules, and ensuring that products meet performance requirements;
  • Became proficient at SDRC I-DEAS, Pro/E, Hypermesh and ANSYS;
  • Was involved in the development, design, manufacturing, and troubleshooting of over 50 different products; and
  • Designed, analyzed, and managed the development of plastic, metal and composite products for Clopay, Loral, Milacron, Wolf Appliances, Tecumseh Engines and Transmissions, Delta Faucet, Matsushita, Trimble, Hill-Rom, Rockwell, Finn, Minster Machine Tools, Textron EZ-GO, Dayton-Phoenix, Pentair, Siemens, Trimble, Telephonics, and many more.

Prior to that, Stephen served as project engineer at General Motors Corporation, where he completed analysis and development of a mass optimized 2000 Cadillac Deville structure for maximum modal performance and structural rigidity. As a result, the performance of the 2000 Deville surpassed comparable Mercedes and BMW models in terms of modal performance and torsional rigidity.

Stephen also worked as a structural engineer for Engineering Technology Associates, where he provided engineering consulting for Chrysler, ITT, Magna International, and General Motors.

He graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
